What Impacts Global Music Popularity?

Have you ever wondered why music across all countries are not equally popular on a global scale? There are quite a few factors that play a significant role in the popularity of music as it relates to music. First and foremost is money. Countries that have quality equipment, for recording and producing music will be popular. Additionally, they have more money for advertising, marketing, and promoting. Finances impact the distribution of music greatly. Popular songs are more likely to be selected and performed for concerts, videos, films, and more.

Another factor is actually the language that is spoken in that country. Languages range in popularity, and it’s safe to surmise that a person will make songs in their language. That’s actually one concern with the advancement of the internet being the cause of the death of languages. Because many sites and resources are available in English, it’s pushing certain languages not to be spoken as much (because learning English is advantageous to accessing said resources). English is one of the most popular languages in the world, so songs that are made in English (or other popular languages) will gain more traction than others.

The record industry is yet another factor. Influences and record industries can have a huge impact on what music enters and stays in circulation. It goes without saying that they will push out what they have access to. With that in mind, it also stands to reason that certain genres will be pushed worldwide. Among, the most popular are pop, electronic, R&B, rock, and metal. Naturally, popular genres will be selected as they are likely to provide the biggest returns for endorsing. This is a bit of a problem because it’s very difficult for other types of music to gain exposure, so few people will know of it.
