Is it possible for music to impact the growth of microbes?

Music can drastically alter both our internal and external environment. Research has shown that certain music can reduce blood pressure, impact heart rates, and alter our emotional state. However, one aspect of music that may not as readily come to mind is the impact of music on microbes.

A microbe is an exceedingly small organism. They live all around us, in the soil on our bodies, pretty much everywhere. Many Some of them can even make us sick, while others are actually important for our health. A microbe can fall into different categories, such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi.

There have been studies in which music has been shown to improve the immune system; however, little research has been done to determine whether or not music can impact the growth of microbes, but there has been some research done on the matter. One study by the Institute of Science at Nirma University found that music impacted the growth of prokaryotic and eukaryotic microbes. They also found that the susceptibility to antibiotics was changed with the presence of music as well.

While more research is needed, one thing that research like this can tell us is that music may impact far more than it appears to. As it turns out, music can impact not only our lives as well. As the loves and growth of plants and animals, but perhaps even the microorganisms that make it up. Perhaps music is far more than a sound wave being processed by our brains A. J. McLean put it quite beautifully when he said: “Music is love, love is music, music is life, and I love my life.” Life in the sense of a single person is truly magnificent, however, when you tale into account all the organizations needed to make your life what it is, that’s when it becomes miraculous and truly awe-inspiring.
