Music Classes Return to Dayton, Ohio Schools

“Music education can help spark a child’s imagination or ignite a lifetime of passion. When you provide a child with new worlds to explore and challenges to tackle, the possibilities are endless. Music education should not be a privilege for a lucky few, it should be a part of every child’s world of possibility.”
-Hillary Clinton

Dayton, Ohio is also called the Land of Funk for a large amount of funk music groups that originated from Dayton. In fact, It’s not just Funk music that comes out of Dayton a large number of musicians of a variety of musical styles have come from Dayton. So, it’s wonderful news to know that the public schools in Dayton are trying diligently to bring back music oriented classes in high schools and middle schools after music classes have all but faded away from the area.

In previous blogs, we have talked about many of the wonderful and amazing benefits of both learning music and music in general. In a place like Dayton, where so many musical talents are from, it’s almost insane to think that they would not have music programs in their schools.

The long-term benefits of this decision could impact more than just a few generations, but ultimately it has the power and potential to impact the entire world. As General Ford once said, “Music education opens doors that help children pass from school into the world around them a world of work, culture, intellectual activity, and human involvement. The future of our nation depends on providing our children with a complete education that includes music.” We can only hope that Dayton bringing back music to their schools will act as a catalyst whose effects and inspirations will impact the surrounding areas and eventually the entire nation to do the same.
