Are musicians more likely to experience strain in their relationship?

You hear songs about failed relationships a lot, and it can cause one to question whether or not musicians may be susceptible to relational strain. There are obvious factors like due to popularity musicians may have more access to meeting more people. However, there are times when musicians seem to have relationship struggles.

There are many reasons someone may feel like they are not getting the most out of their relationship. Time issues, like if the couple is not able to spend as much time together, can put a strain on the relationship. If one person feels like they are contributing more to the relationship than the other, the relationship can break down. Jealousy and finances are other factors that at first may seem to be things that would not be an issue in relations, but can. In the case of jealousy, many people think that jealous behavior means that they are deeply loved; however, jealousy can quickly become toxic and can easily spiral into abuse. Money is a factor that can strain relationships (particularly if the relationship is not built on a strong foundation.

These factors (plus more) can make it easy for a musician to have relational struggles. They may meet more disingenuine people who are only with them for their money, or people who get with them because being with a famous person is romanticized. While it may seem like it’s easier to find a partner as a musician, it may be more difficult finding a quality person who is willing to stand by your side through thick and thin. Still, there is hope as Nick Cannon once said, “Nobody can predict the future. You just have to give your all to the relationship you’re in and do your best to take care of your partner, communicate and give them every last drop of love you have. I think one of the most important things in a relationship is caring for your significant other through good times and bad.”
