Prolonged levels of stress can put a person at risk for health problems in the future.

When a person with high levels of anxiety is startled, their stress levels can shoot exponentially high even whit things that are considered relatively minor. When a highly anxious person hears a loud, startling, or unexpected noise it can leave them frazzled, and it’s harder and takes longer for them to calm down. It is not unusual for a person experiencing anxiety like this to be more sensitive to certain stimuli and be more irritable in general. Feelings of being overwhelmed and feeling like they are losing control are also common.
