How to Select Music for your Marketing Video

If you are creating a marketing video for your business there are a plethora of things you need. Video footage, a script, voiceovers, and of course music are only a few of the elements you may need to have. The music you select should be carefully considered. Here are a few things to keep in mind when selecting your music.

The purpose of the music:

What role will the selected music play in your marketing video? Is your music supporting your message?  Both of these questions are based on the intent, however, take some time to consider if the selected music is actually doing what it is intended to do. If you notice the music too much then it might actually be distracting. It’s also never a bad idea to have someone else look at your video. Sometimes a fresh set of eyes can help you catch mistakes or point out things you may not have noticed during the creation process.

Intros and outros:

Using music to highlight the start and end of your video is a good idea in that you can gain the viewer’s attention. This trick is particularly useful because people tend to recall the first and last things they heard, so pairing the intro and or outro with information or a call to action can be far more effective than simply letting the video taper off at the end.

Remember your budget. If you are considering hiring a composer, or even if you simply want to purchase a license to use music remember to keep your budget in mind. Consider your audience. Even if the song sounds good it may not speak to your particular demographics. So, to find music that strikes a chord with your audience. Doing these things will dramatically increase the success of your video. While Music is only a single element of your marketing video it needs to be carefully selected.
