Is singing beneficial?

Singing is an important part of human history. It allowed stories to be passed on in a fun and memorable way, and it is a large part of entertainment today. However, Singing is far more than a medium for self-expression and the passing of knowledge
A study published in 2008 found that people who sang in chorus in the countries of Australia, Germany, and the United Kingdom found that choral singers rated their quality of life and overall satisfaction with life higher than that of the general public. It has also been known to reduce anxiety and play a role in psychological health.

Some say that singing releases endorphins (the body’s natural stress reliever, pain killer, and pleasure enhancer – in short endorphins are partially responsible for making you feel good- like that swell of happiness you get from eating good food or being with a loved one). In short singing may make you happy, however, if you are uncomfortable you may negate these particular benefits, but, even that can be seen in a positive light.

Preforming songs in front of a crowd can be a major confidence booster. Confidence is built by success and experience. If you are comfortable with a task, then you will likely be confident in your ability to complete the task. Let’s say you are asked what 2 plus 5 equals, chances are that even if you don’t immediately know the answer is 7 you can quickly find out by adding. So, you are more confident in your ability. Now let’s take the same problem but now you are three years old and suddenly asked this question. You can barely count let alone add, so you may feel unsure or nervous about messing up. The same goes with almost anything else. When you first start off you’ll be nervous and maybe overly conscious of your mistakes, however as time passes and you get used to the idea of of whatever the task is and you’ll become more comfortable and build confidence.
