Music marketing is in some regard a necessary process when trying to put your music out there, particularly if you are an indie artist. The question becomes which platforms work best for marketing your work? To answer that question, it would be a good idea to understand the demographics of the people using any particular social media and see how that compares with your target audience. For example, Instagram tends to have on average a younger demographic than some other social media platforms.

For example, Facebook is very commonly used by people living in urban and suburban areas slightly more so than individuals living in rural areas. These are just a few examples but factors such as these will help you determine which social media platforms will be most effective when trying to reach your target audience.

Having information will also help you determine which advertising platforms you should be putting your money into. In addition to selecting which platform works best for your message, you’ll also need to determine which advertising campaign will pull in the most people (that fit your audience criteria). There are quite a few factors as well. Design, word choice, and logos will all have an impact on whether or not your advertisements work the way you want them to. Luckily with many platforms, you can test the effectiveness of your ads and play around with different aspects of your ads to see which works. All in all, the platform you should use should be carefully considered and backed by some research. With platforms changing and growing constantly information is continually being altered, added, and updated. If you want in on the marketing game then you’ll have to stay up to date on whichever platform you are using.
