Waking up to Music in the Morning

Have you’ve ever noticed that when you have a bad morning the rest of your day seems to be the same? Maybe you stubbed your toe then got stuck in traffic and ended up late for work. Every subsequent event seems to be a little more hectic than usual. Similarly, if you wake up in a good mood, your day may seem a little brighter. So, what can you do to help you wake up on the right side of the bed each day? How about instead of an alarm you wake up to your favorite song?
Replacing your alarm with your favorite song could be a fantastic way to start your morning. It can put you in a good mood and set you on the path to having a great day. When selecting a song to start your morning try to select a song that will help bring forth the mood you want to feel (happy, excited, calm, etc.). Starting off your day with positive feelings can help improve your overall perspective of that day, so even if you stub your toe in the morning, it may not affect you as much as it otherwise would have.
However, there are a few things to keep in mind, for one, you could come to dislike your favorite song. This can occur if you don’t particularly like getting up in the morning. You could associate the song with having to wake up. There is also a chance that you could change your perspective of waking up and associate it with positive feelings due to your favorite song being played upon waking. One way to counteract the potentially negative potentially negative effect is to be exposed to the song more than just when you’re waking. The additional exposure will make it more difficult to associate the song with just one thing (like waking up). Another thing you can do is switch out the songs you play in the morning, this will make it difficult for you to associate waking up with any one song.
