How Success Can Change You
Any and everything that you experience will change you on some level. Success is no different. People want to be successful and fulfilled in what they do, there is nothing wrong with that. But in your success, you must always remember that you are in control of how you will be changed.
Success tends to build confidence. Everyone wants to feel confident in what they do. That is not to say you want to be arrogant. Don’t allow your success to warp your thinking. No matter where you are in life there is always something you can learn. Gain the confidence, know and believe in your work and your strength, but never seek to harm, sabotage, or disrespect others. As Florence Scovel Shinn once said “The game of life is a game of boomerangs. Our thoughts, deeds and words return to us sooner or later with astounding accuracy.” Be kind in your success, because you don’t know what the world will throw at you in terms of life. If you fall on hard times others are far more likely to help you if you were kind.
All the events and circumstances leading up to the moment you’re reading this have shaped your life, but you are in control of this shaping process. Don’t relinquish that control to anyone or anything. You can be guided by so much more than whatever emotion you are feeling at any given moment.
As a musician, you will face many challenges. The path to success isn’t always an easy one but is still a rewarding experience. You are always in control, you can choose to be swept away by the winds of success and make poor decisions or you can stay grounded and allow your success to grow as you continue on the path. The choice is always yours.
