Ways to get the Fanatical Support you Need as a Musician

In order to create music, you need to have money. Naturally you can work a day job to support your goal, however, there are sources for financial support you can utilize as a musician. In some locations, like Canada, there are music grants. Grants for music often require a lot of documentation in order to. Additionally, there is also a lot of competition for these grants and you may have keep submitting applications to get the funding you need. Sadly, there are not too many music grants in the United States, but there are still some and it’s worth looking in to.

Another way to receive funding (particularly for projects) is crowdfunding. There are many crowdfunding sites, like Kickstarter and RocketHub. Just be aware of any hidden costs that may be associated with crowdfunding campaigns. You could also use pledging sites like Patreon and PledgeMusic.

Fundraising gigs and events are great ways to get your fans involved. Be transparent about what the money will be used for. You don’t want people to feel cheated. Additionally, you’ll want your audience to know beforehand what to expect at your event, particularly any perks that may be associated with attending the event. Lastly, be sure to thank those who contributed. The more personal the thank you is (such as a phone call) the better. However, a personal thank you is not always freezable, so in some cases, an email is a good way to say thanks.

And lastly, you can take out a loan. This comes with a few drawbacks and the risk of incurring a debt. Loans should be a last resort, still if you do have to resort to taking out a loan be sure you make plans and take the necessary steps to pay it back.
